The Daytona 500 was held on February 23, 2014.
We were excited to go to the Daytona 500 since it one of the few remaining ‘never been to yet’ races on our bucket list.
Do you think Jimmie Johnson can win another Championship this year? Six championships in eight years is incredible, but he does drive a Chevy. Of course, Dale Earnhardt Jr is his team mate so maybe 2014 will be his year since he led 54 of the 200 laps of the 2014 Daytona 500 and won the race. Three of the Hendrick Motorsports cars finished in the top 5 (1st – Dale Earnhardt Jr., 3rd – Jeff Gordon and 5th – Jimmie Johnson)
We really enjoyed the race, but the 6 hour red flag for rain seemed like an eternity waiting for the rain to stop. The race resumed at 8:30 PM and ended around 11 PM.

We did not originally plan to stay in the Daytona area on Sunday night, but since the race had such a long red flag rain delay we found a room on the beach and changed to dry clothes. Like their sign states the whole hotel was a pre-renovation special.
