DeSmet Jesuit High School Film Techniques Class Movie Project

As a high school senior in the St. Louis, Missouri area I attended DeSmet Jesuit High School in Creve Coeur and took the class Film Techniques.

One of our assignments was to produce an 8mm movie. I selected our high school basketball team as my subject. This movie shows the first DeSmet team with seniors since 1971 was the first year students graduated from DeSmet Jesuit High School.

The movie was shot on black & white super 8 mm film and the soundtrack was recorded on 1/4 inch reel to reel tape. A special thanks to Griggs Video Services for the transfer services from film and tape to video. It is amazing they were able to transfer this film to video with all the splices in the super 8 mm film that I as a high school student made almost 50 years ago.

Here is my movie titled BASKETBALL.

Here are a few scans from the 1971 DeSmet yearbook.

A special thanks to my Film Techniques class instructor, Thomas Loehr. He started me on a life long love of movies and how they are made.
