Dave and Cathi attended the 2011 Rolex 24 at Daytona January 2011.
We arrived in Daytona on Saturday around noon and when we tried to check in we were told our beach hotel had overbooked and we were being upgraded to the Plaza Resort and Spa. It was a great room with an ocean view balcony.
Dave and Cathi then made it to the track in time to get into the pits before the race and talk to a few drivers. Dave’s favorite team (the Flying Lizards) were on the pole and set the fastest lap but retired with only 90 minutes left in the 24 hour race. Dave got to congratulate Patrick Long on the 45 car’s pole position before we had to leave the infield.
On the Monday after the Race we went to Miami Beach (South Beach area) for a few days then on to Key West for the rest of the week. It was great watching the Super Bowl in Key West.
